GLAS NARODA – NEWSPAPER FOR NATIONAL MATTERS, ECONOMY, EDUCATION AND ENTERTAINMENT

Abstract

In this work, paper “Glas naroda” that has been published in Novi Sad in the second part of19th Century, has been analyzed. Texts were written with the language understandable to everyoneand the price was affordable to every layer of society. Paper was dealing with education of thepeople, villages situation, crafts, economical issues and education itself. “Glas naroda” supportedpolitics of Svetozar Miletic and his People’s party, which is proven from the text analysis. “Glasnaroda” is a media that stands up to conservative’s and supports liberal ideas and church-schoolautonomy. That is the example of printed media with the assignment to educate its readers andgives them series of useful advices from different fields of life. In the very beginning of it’s publicationthis media had very high circulation and had a lot of influence on wide Serbian populationin Austro-Hungary.
