Abstract

The paper analyses the problem of the compulsory education in the Republic ofSerbia (1992-2003) from the point of view of the interpretative paradigm, and based uponthe comparative approach. In that sense, the field of compulsory education, the same asthe state itself, permeate through the processes of transition, modernization and reform.Since the compulsory education represents a base for development of every individual and asociety in the whole, the autors of the paper tends to objectively introspect the situation of thecompulsory education system in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the moments necessaryfor the process of creation of its reform: previously acquired experiences, experiences fromother countries, needs of the individual and a community, as well as the national interests.
